Gucci Mane needs no introduction in the world of hip-hop. Revered as the most influential underground rapper of the past decade, Gucci Mane boasts an impressive track record. With more Top 10 albums on Billboard’s “Top Rap Albums” chart and more Top 20 singles than any other hip-hop artist in history, he has solidified his place as a rap icon.
His recent success with the mixtape “GUCCI MANE PRESENTS: SO ICY SUMMER” catapulted him back into the spotlight, featuring hit singles like “Richer Than Errybody (Feat. YoungBoy Never Broke Again & DaBaby)” and “Big Booty (Feat. Megan Thee Stallion).” Additionally, “DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR” produced summer anthems such as “Love Thru The Computer (Feat. Justin Bieber),” “Backwards (Feat. Meek Mill),” and “Proud Of You.” His album “EAST ATLANTA SANTA 3” also includes standout tracks like “She Miss Me (Feat. Rich The Kid)” and “Tony (Feat. Quavo).”
Prof: Minneapolis’ Hip-Hop Gem
Sharing the stage with Gucci Mane is the talented American rapper, singer, and producer Prof, hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prof’s journey in the music industry has been nothing short of remarkable. He burst onto the scene with his debut album “Project Gampo” in 2007 and has since released six additional albums and three EPs.
In 2012, City Pages honored Prof by naming him one of Minnesota’s 20 best rappers, recognizing his musical versatility, impressive singing voice, and ability to engage and entertain audiences. Over the years, Prof has become one of the few Minneapolis rap acts capable of selling out the renowned First Avenue Mainroom, a feat he achieved without the backing of Minnesota Public Radio station 89.3 The Current.
Prof’s partnership with Rhymesayers Entertainment in 2013 marked a significant milestone in his career, with the label co-founder Slug making the announcement. He went on to release his debut record on Rhymesayers, titled “Liability,” in October 2015, which peaked at 141 on the Billboard 200 chart.
With a rich history of delivering dynamic performances and a growing discography of compelling music, Prof continues to captivate audiences worldwide. His music has even found its way into popular culture, as seen with his song “Church” being featured in the opening of Season 2, Episode 4 of ABC’s “The Rookie.”
DJ Sophia Eris: A Musical Force
Adding to the excitement, DJ Sophia Eris, a DJ/MC currently residing in Minneapolis, MN, will be gracing the stage. Born as a Military Brat, she has moved through many different homes and influences that have left her open-minded and forever a student of life. Musically, she has used her upbringing to cultivate her skills in the exact same way.
She is now a DJ for the booming new Hip Hop radio station in Minneapolis, Go 95.3, and also the touring DJ for Atlantic Records recording artist, Lizzo. Together, the two have opened up for acts such as SZA, CHVRCHES, Sleater-Kinney, and more. They have also performed in the Late Night Television circuit for David Letterman & Stephen Colbert, and just recently broke through on the Emmy-nominated Daytime TV hit, The Real.
In the festival circuit, they have slayed internationally at Glastonbury, Wireless Fest, Bonnaroo, SXSW, and more! As a solo artist, she represents her crew GRRRLPRTY, and has had the honor of collaborating with the legendary late great Prince on the 3RDEYEGIRL track “BOYTROUBLE.” Her highly anticipated self-titled debut album produced by Prophis was released on July 19, 2016, and she looks forward to continuing to conquer every one of her endeavors.
