In a significant development for Duluth, Amazon is set to establish a distribution center in the city, according to county records. The purchased land, located at the Atlas Industrial Park along Commonwealth Avenue, marks a notable addition to the area between Morgan Park and Gary-New Duluth. The parcels acquired by Amazon were initially intended for a SAIA LTL Freight trucking terminal, but that plan fell through, as confirmed by a member of the DEDA board to FOX 21. This forthcoming Amazon facility will be situated alongside the recent relocation of Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank to the former Ikonics building within the same industrial park. While a specific completion timeline was not immediately available, this development underscores the city’s evolving industrial landscape.
